Fooly Cooly (video)

Fooly Cooly : FLCL, also known as Furi Kuri or Fooly Cooly, is a fast paced and confusing Japanese animated series. The story begins when an energetic alien girl drives up on a Vespa and hits an unsuspecting adolescent boy over the head with a left-handed bass guitar.

This crazy hyperactive style can easily be misinterpreted, causing strongly opposing opinions of the show’s value. There are many metaphorical plots and hidden meanings underneath its surface. The series is a pun in itself with suggestive and sexual metaphors. The strange situations and dialogue reflect the confusion and awkwardness of puberty (as well as society in general). FLCL is an exercise in unconventional, self-alluding anime. (Video)

US 'stands with Georgia' after fatal luge crash

WASHINGTON — The United States expressed its "sympathy and solidarity" with Georgia Saturday after the tragic death of Georgian luge star Nodar Kumaritashvili before the start of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

"We wish to express our sympathy and solidarity with the people of Georgia," State Department spokesman Gordon Duguid said in a statement.

"The United States stands with Georgia as it mourns the loss of a great Olympic athlete," Duguid said, adding "we extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Nodar Kumaritashvili."

The 21-year-old athlete flew off the Olympic luge track at high speed and smashed into a metal pillar during a training run.

Explosion Kills 9 in Pune; India Says Terror Attack

Feb. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Nine people were killed when a bomb ripped through a bakery popular with international visitors in the Indian city of Pune, in what officials called the biggest terrorist strike in the nation since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

"Six bodies have been identified,” police official R. Shalake said in a telephone interview from Pune, situated approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) southeast of India’s financial hub of Mumbai. "There are three unknown bodies. At least 53 people have been injured,” Shalake said.

Television channels showed tables and chairs strewn across the pavement outside the bakery, with billboards ripped from their mountings. The blast occurred at 7:30 p.m. local time yesterday, Home Secretary Gopal K. Pillai said at a New Delhi news conference.
